Nicalis has gotten quite a bit of street cred on Nintendo’s digital platforms, having previously released VVVVVV on the eShop and Cave Story on both the eShop and on WiiWare. Now they’re working on bringing a new game, tentatively called Yatagarasu, to the eShop in North America and Europe.

Yatagarasu is a fighting game that was originally released in Japan last year. The game was developed by a small team of developers who previously worked at SNK on the King of Fighters series. The game has eight playable characters, a single-player mode, a two-player mode, a training mode and a replay mode. It also has an optional commentator system that supposedly simulates trash talking during fights, which is kind of interesting.

The release date for this game hasn’t been revealed at this time, but if you’re planning on going to PAX Prime this year, you can check it out at Indie Megabooth, #883. For everyone else, you can watch the trailer below.
