Now here’s something we haven’t seen at E3 in a long time: a brand new IP. Not satisfied with our cheers from Rayman Legends and Assassin’s Creed III, both of which are coming to the Wii U, Ubisoft finished their press conference with a look at a brand new game called Watch Dogs.

The game takes place in a future where everything is connected to a wireless network in the city, not unlike the Oz network from the movie Summer Wars. When I say everything, of course, I do mean everything. You get to play as a hacker who can take control of the city’s network and everything connected to it. From the video, we saw that you could tap into other people’s cellphones and trace the call, blow out all phone reception in the immediate area, and even short out traffic lights to cause a car wreck. Said car wreck even provided cover for an ensuing firefight.

It’s not yet known when this game will be released or what platforms it will show up on. It appeared to be played on an 360 controller, though. I hope Ubisoft continues the level of support they’ve shown for the Wii U by bringing this game to it.
