Shin Megami Tensei 4 is happening

Original Story:
If you thought the Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers remake for the 3DS was a big deal, check this out!

A tweet from Sinobi has said that this week’s Famitsu is supposedly going to reveal that Atlus has begun developing Shin Megami Tensei IV for the 3DS.  An official site will most likely be revealed tomorrow (or in the near future). As of now, no one without a password can enter.  Also, Atlus is still preparing for the release date of the Soul Hacker‘s remake.

This is the news that Atlus fans have been waiting since Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne (Lucifer’s Calling in the PAL region) . We will update when more light is shed on this.

  • As awesome as that will be, I would prefer a 3DS exclusive Persona game, but we’ll have to see how things go, SMT is an awesome series.

    • Atlus should totally remake (I say again, re-make, not port) their Persona games for the 3DS and/or Wii U. I was so disappointed that they actually DOWNported them to the PSP instead.

  • So SMT: Strange Journey is completely separate, but part of the canon. That’s what I thought. Still, SMT is one of my favorite series, and I can’t wait for all of the 3DS love it’s going to get.

  • Love, I can’t wait, honestly this and Devil Summoner just about push every other game on the console out of my radar, I’m playing Devil Survivor 2 right now and loving it to death, ugh need this now…

  • The Soul Hackers remake is awesome on its own, but to get the honest-to-goodness fourth mainline Shin Megami Tensei title on the 3DS is a huge coup for the platform.

  • All my like.  Even if it ends up just a Strange Journey Overclocked.

    • I would LOVE a Strange Journey Overclocked. You could use demon passwords to bring over your minions from Strange Journey DS!

  • With all this Nintendo support, it looks like Atlus is set to profit BIG this generation. It killed me inside to see third parties trying so hard to force the PS3 into first place and losing so much money as a result, while Nintendo quietly thrived, and patiently waited for third parties to support them. It’s nice to see third parties actually recognizing that yes, after 130 years in the entertainment biz, perhaps Nintendo DOES know what it’s doing after all.
